Change to the code occurs continuously – adding features as needed for my or colleagues’ research activities. Support of Linux and other UNIX is also available, just not as unconstrained download since the entire source code must be distributed. Check often if you want to stay at the bleeding edge - the distribution may change daily if an appropriate request arrives – or I may forget to update for a considerable number of months. I do not believe in static versions - any user is free to upgrade to the most recent set of fixes and enhancements.

Installation problems hopefully resolved:

My son, Ian, taught me how to embed the required C redistributables into the install script. Manual installation of vcredist_x86.exe should no longer be necessary and has been removed. Customization under “local” will not be lost.

Development Version:

Real Manual in the Works: I am working on a real PDF manual (and help). As I write, there are numerous small changes (and some larger background code) occurring for consistency.
Stable and in Use: The versions put up as development are my primary workhorse versions (no known bugs). This version may be updated fairly often with minimal changes. Unless you have a problem, recommend using this version.
As always, send bug reports: The code only gets fixed when I know there are problems. Let me know.

Updating:

Due to install program limitations, you must uninstall the current version before updating. Any customization will not be lost.

Users with a real license (thanks for supporting my Fresca habit):

Your original serial number will continue to unlock all updates and revisions. Upgrades will find your previous entered serial number. Just enter BETA-02-0000-aaaa or any random string during the install.

Test and Evaluation Serial Number (BETA-02-0000-abcd):

The current version (with no restrictions) can be installed BETA-02-0000-abcd. This serial number is valid for 180-360 days and can be renewed indefinitely, requiring only that you download the latest version with fixes. I prefer this method as you are forced to get fixes!

Entering a new serial number:

On Windows versions, the serial number can be modified from the Help menu on the toolbar.

Linux and Unix versions:

The source code tree is on this site, but hidden. Please send e-mail to support@genplot.com and get Prof. Thompson to send you the information. You may have to bug him multiple times to get a response.

Version Information:

Both combined RUMP/GENPLOT and GENPLOT alone are available.
Version information is available only as a link date. Use the VERSION command to see the current revision date.
File size is less than 10 MB. Sorry I'm not supporting hard disk manufacturers. Using 10 GB is far beyond mere mortal programmers.
